He has participated in many exhibitions in Ioannina and Thessaloniki, where he was awarded the second prize for the photography “Meteora” in 1960, the first prize for the photography “Papigo”, the third prize for the photography “Gate door in Metsovo” in 1965 and a distinction for the photography “The Vlach of Zaloggo” in 1966.

He designed and almost constructed the alpine shelter on Mt Mitsikeli, which was inaugurated on July 9, 1939 by the Chairman of the Alpine Clubs Spelios Agapitos.

Tolis Sakellariou writes in “IPIROTIKOS AGON” on January 26, 1961: “The other days, Apostolos Vertodoulos showed us 144 beautiful photos and his rich inner world in the hall of the Army Club. Apostolos Vertodoulos is an incurable nature lover”.

The Board of the Alpine Club decided to name it “Apostolos Vertodoulos Shelter” in order to honor him.
Other information
He called himself a nature lover, like his photographs. He used simple cameras, without special effects, but the sunlight. He left a rich archive of black and white photographs and colored slides.
