He has illustrated the liberation of Thessaloniki and Ioannina in 1912-13. He worked on the charting of the new frontiers of Greece. He was a self-taught painter, and in his paintings he has depicted the Lake of Ioannina, the people and still life.

A painting exhibition was organized by the Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Ioannina in collaboration with the Prefecture of Ioannina, the Municipality of Ioannina and the Association of Old Ioannina Citizens. The exhibition took place in the framework of the celebrations for the 87th liberation anniversary (February 21, 2000), in which his father Hasan Tahsin Pasha was also honoured, as the Turkish military governor, who surrendered the city of Thessaloniki to the Greek and not the Bulgarian army.

Kenan Messare was the son of the Albanian General Hasan Tahsin Pasha, who surrendered Thessalonica to the Greek and not the Bulgarian army, because he thought that this was the right thing to do.

After 1912-1913 he was given the Greek nationality and he returned to Ioannina.
